I've got just over 900 miles experience now and got a good dose of "people don't see me coming" today. I was tooling along a four lane going to work. I was riding the outside of the left lane next to the suicide lane at about 50 mph; when a school bus decided it wanted to be in the space I was occupying at the same time and turned in front of me. I locked up the brakes pretty good and skidded sideways into the suicide lane, then passed the bus in the middle. She heard me screach behind her and hid her face in her hand when I passed.
The shock didn't hit me until I got to the next red light, and I had to stop and try and remember how I did that. I didn't have time to think I just reacted, not sure how I actually kept the bike up, not sure what brake I used and how much of it, couldn't remember if I let off the clutch or anything. I felt like I was gonna puke though, I remember that.
You bet I wear leather in the summer now, Lisa.
